Job summary

Stoughton Trailers is seeking a GMAW (MIG) Fabrication Welder in Wisconsin to turn raw steel into trailers built for safety and reliability. You will set up parts, align assemblies, and perform welds in flat, horizontal, vertical down, and overhead positions while maintaining quality records.

You will read blueprints, measure with gauges, and apply shop math. The role requires willingness to work overtime and participate in a team-focused, safety-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Read blueprints and process sheets; accurately use gauges and tape measures.
• Apply basic shop math (fractions, measurements).
• Strong grasp of welding practices and defect identification/repair.
• Set up and operate weld machines, oxy-acetylene torches, plasma equipment, and robotic welders.
• Successfully pass written and hands-on weld tests.

Responsibilities

• Set up various parts and assemblies for welding on carbon and stainless steels of multiple gauges.
• Align components using blocking, braces, jigs, wedges, drift pins, turnbuckles, and pry bars.
• Perform GMAW welds in flat, horizontal, vertical down, and overhead positions.
• Prepare and finish workpieces by grinding or chipping rough edges, surplus weld, or scale.
• Clamp, position, and bolt together straps or parts to spec.
• Operate overhead cranes, hoists, and other lifting devices safely.
• Run both manual and robotic welding equipment; verify measurements and complete quality records.
