Job summary

Germaine’s Luau Operations is seeking a Luau Porter responsible for setup, service, and breakdown of events to high standards. You will ensure venues are well-maintained, assist with inventory of catering equipment and furniture, and uphold safety and quality across all grounds and services.

The role requires physical stamina, the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, and a strong team orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Set up tents, tables and chairs for event areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of closets and spaces.
  • Assist with inventory control of catering equipment and furniture.
  • Report damages or safety hazards to Supervisor.
  • Communicate with supervisor to ensure tasks are completed.
  • Assist Luau Manager as needed.
  • Prepare imu pit for pig removal and clean area.

Job description

The Luau Porter position is responsible for the setup, servicing, and breakdown of all events in accordance with Germaine’s Luau Operations standards of quality. The Luau Set-Up ensure all venues are well-maintained and cleaned including any safety or equipment needs, prior to or after the event. The incumbent also assists with inventory control of catering equipment and furniture. This role maintains a thorough knowledge of Germaine’s Luau Operations and all its grounds, products, and services as well as awareness of other roles and responsibilities throughout the organization. In addition to maintaining our vision by adhering to our values, this position must provide the highest level of service to our guests.

2. Essential Job Functions:

Incumbent may perform any or all of the following:

  • Setup tents, tables and chairs for the employee wellness screening area, guest wellness, and First Aid tent.
  • Set up table linens, skirting and tabletop items (water pitchers, ashtrays, glasses, etc.) as specified by group and in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of closets; remove trash, wipe down shelves/counters; sweep and wax floor; remove non‑floor closet items and transport to proper storage areas.
  • Clean designated areas with proper chemicals, tools, and equipment.
  • Empty trash containers, ashtrays, and ash urns in public areas into proper containers for recycling.
  • Check that restrooms are clean and adequately stocked with supplies.
  • Prepare the imu pit for removal of the pig and clean the pit area for presentation.
  • Report any damages, maintenance problems or safety hazards to the Supervisor.
  • Communicates with supervisor verbally and through written communication throughout the shift to ensure proper notification and follow through of assigned tasks.
  • Maybe assigned other duties as needed by the Luau Manager on duty.
3. Essential Skills (Minimum qualifications individual must possess when entering position) – i.e. skillsets, education, certifications, etc.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of various types of equipment and set up styles used in meeting rooms including basic knowledge of service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
  • Ability to understand verbal and written English sufficient to understand verbal job requests from supervisor and guests; ability to set up a room by following a flow chart.
  • Ability to lift and move multiple tables and chairs and podiums weighing up to 75 lbs. through a crowed area. This position requires considerable physical activity on a continuous basis throughout the shift from room set up and break down.
  • Ability to perform under pressure effectively for extensive periods of time while maintaining.
  • Can work on own as well as part of a team.
  • Performs work well with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Clear thinker who can remain calm and resolve problems using good judgment.
  • Prioritizes well, shows energy, reacts to opportunities, and instills urgency in others.
  • Available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the department; willing and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
4. Working Conditions/Job Environment
  • Must be able to stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Job involves working:
    • under variable temperature conditions (or extreme heat or cold).
    • under variable noise levels.

    • around fumes and/or odor hazards.
    • around dust and/or mite hazards.

  • Lifting and carrying (Up to 75 pounds)
