Job summary

Grand Lake Health System in Maria Stein, Ohio, is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our outpatient team. • Obtains and maintains BCLS Healthcare Provider Course.

Responsibilities

• Greets and escorts patients through the medical practice.
• Completes clinical assessments and documents in the electronic medical record.
• Collaborates with physicians and health team in implementing physician orders.
• Supports a holistic Patient Centered Medical Home approach.
• Implements and documents clinical and technical aspects of care.
• Evaluates patient responses to the plan of care using teach-back methods.
• Communicates openly with patients, physicians, and health team members.
• Acts as liaison for patients with outside agencies and providers.
• Respects patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
• Maintains positive relationships with internal and external customers.
• Adheres to health system policies, safety, infection control guidelines.
• Assists in care and maintenance of work area equipment and supplies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

• Greets and escorts patients through the medical practice.
• Completes clinical assessments of patients by completing history of present disease and illnesses with accuracy and documents appropriately in patient electronic medical record.
• Collaborates with physicians and other health team members in implementing physician orders.
• Incorporates holistic approach to Patient Centered Medical Home, thus moving beyond problem focused care.
• Implements and documents clinical and technical aspects of care.
• Evaluates patient’s response and understanding to plan of care by using teach back method.
• Openly and appropriately communicates with patients, physicians, and other members of health team.
• Serves as a liaison for patients with outside agencies, businesses, and providers, establishing a therapeutic relationship with the patient and family.
• Respects patient’s rights to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
• Maintains positive interpersonal relationships with all internal and external customers.
• Maintains established health system and work area policies and procedures, objectives, guest relations, safety, environmental and infection control guidelines.
• Assists in care and maintenance of work area equipment and supplies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Obtains and maintains successful completion of BCLS Healthcare Provider Course.

Education/Certifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or will be graduating within 6 months of hire.
• Certified Medical Assistant through AAMA or other certifying body as deemed acceptable by the Practice Manager or will obtain this credentialing within 6 months of hire.

Experience

• Previous medical practice experience preferred but not required.
