Job summary

Strategic Management Solutions, LLC (SMSI) is seeking a full-time Project Engineer based in Oak Ridge, TN, to supervise engineering activities for a global business unit. Qualifications

• At least 6 years of relevant work experience in engineering/project management.
• Experience working with gloveboxes.
• 12 years of engineering nuclear work can satisfy the requirement in DOD/DOE or commercial nuclear space for line-item construction projects.
• Familiarity with project cost and scheduling; ability to become a CAM under EVMS.
• Excellent verbal and written communications; comfortable with desktop automation.
• Ability to work onsite in Oak Ridge and travel short term as needed.
• US citizenship is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Q clearance may be required.
• A real ID driver’s license is required for onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical representative for engineering activities including planning, design, execution and closeout of design changes and RFIs.
• Coordinate with subcontracted A/E for design development and verify design compliance at each maturity stage.
• Lead and manage design development of DCFs from subcontracted A/E; support fabrication and construction activities.
• Verify A/E design compliance at 30/60/90/100 percent maturity.
• Coordinate manufacturability reviews with fabricators, design agencies and IPT.
• Evaluate supply chain risks to fabrication and delivery.
• Ensure scope, safety, and schedule are implemented and maintained through design, fabrication, installation and testing.
• Manage and process deviation requests, non-conformances, and changes to issued design.
