Job summary

Novum Energy, based in Houston, TX, seeks an experienced accounting professional to manage AR/AP invoicing, trade settlements, and reporting in a global trading environment. You’ll reconcile invoices in Allegro, ensure documentation completeness, and prepare statements for key customers.

The role requires 5+ years in accounting, strong communication, and meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to work across regions and time zones. Flexibility to support global operations is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• 5+ years of work experience in an accounting role.
• Experience working in a trading system, Allegro experience a plus.
• Proven ability to work independently in a distributed team environment with minimal supervision, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify risks and resolve discrepancies proactively.
• Ability to balance commercial urgency with settlement control, ensuring accounting integrity is not compromised.
• Energetic, responsive team player with initiative and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience working across regions, departments and time zones.
• High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and accountability.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
• Ability to work flexible hours to support global operations on an ad-hoc basis.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Operators to finalize AR and AP invoicing and review cargo documents.
• Generate and reconcile invoices in Allegro, send to counterparties, and follow up as needed.
• Act as a control function over trade settlements, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
• Independently review inputs from Operations and challenge discrepancies.
• Resolve discrepancies with internal and external stakeholders to process payments.
• Prepare statements of accounts for specific business customers.
• Assist with invoice administration and filing of documents.
• Prepare ad-hoc reports from Sun Systems for internal and external use.
• Maintain auditable records of settlements activity.
