Job summary

Management Performance Associates in Washington, DC is seeking a Mid-Level International Trade Associate Attorney to join its International Trade Practice. The role focuses on export controls, tariffs, customs, sanctions, and national security reviews including CFIUS, with a collaborative, client-service oriented team.

Ideal candidates have a JD from a top-tier law school, DC bar in good standing, 2–3+ years in international trade; Mandarin is a plus.

Qualifications

JD from a top-tier law school with an excellent academic record.
Active Bar Admission in the District of Columbia, in good standing.
2/3+ years of substantive experience in international trade law.
Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is a plus.
Experience with BIS, DDTC, OFAC, and trade remedies is preferred.

Responsibilities

Advise clients on export controls, customs, tariffs, sanctions, and CFIUS reviews.
Assist with compliance requirements by BIS, DDTC, U.S. Customs and OFAC.
Analyze customs matters involving entry, classification, and valuation.
Support matters under antidumping, countervailing duty, and safeguarding laws.
Conduct legal research and provide practical guidance on complex issues.
Draft memoranda, submissions, and client communications.
Collaborate with attorneys across practices on cross-border matters.
Monitor developments in international trade law and advise clients accordingly.
