Job summary

Flexport, Inc. is seeking a Trade Advisory Manager to lead a team of customs experts and work directly with clients, the legal department, and operations. You will interpret regulations and develop compliant, efficient trade solutions to optimize supply chains and duty costs.

This role requires deep knowledge of U.S. import/export laws, HTS classification, valuation, origin, and FTAs, with strong communication to translate complex concepts into actionable guidance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in customs and international trade advisory.
• Active U.S. Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) certification.
• Proven experience managing and developing a team of trade professionals.
• Expertise in U.S. import/export regulations, including HTS classification, valuation, country of origin, and free trade agreements.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable advice.
• A 'compliance first' attitude to keep regulators happy in a heavily regulated industry.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of Customs Trade Advisors, fostering their growth and expertise.
• Provide expert legal analysis and written advice on complex customs and trade matters, including classification, valuation, origin, and free trade agreements.
• Develop and implement trade compliance strategies that mitigate risk and optimize client supply chains.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Flexport's legal, product, sales, and operations teams to integrate trade advisory into broader client solutions.
• Represent Flexport externally as a subject matter expert, engaging with clients and industry stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement in advisory processes and knowledge sharing within the Customs department.
