Job summary

Google seeks a Strategic Partner Development Manager to open doors with potential partners, lead exploratory discussions, and evaluate business opportunities. You will guide cross-functional teams across Product, Legal, and BD to land multi-faceted initiatives for Google’s advertising business.

You will work with executives, shape engagement strategies, and present insights to senior management, helping Google grow its AI partnerships globally within a large, matrixed organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in business development, partnerships, strategy, product, technology, or a related field, or 5 years of experience with an advanced degree.
  • Experience working with C-level executives or cross-functional management.

Responsibilities

  • Orchestrate partnership strategy for AI partners across BD, Product, Legal, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic input on new partnership opportunities, contracts, and executive decisions.
  • Develop engagement strategies and briefings for Google’s executives (VP+) and lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Manage escalations and mitigate risk with BD, legal, and other stakeholders.
  • Gather data to become an expert on AI companies to inform analyses for Google’s strategy.

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in business development, partnerships, strategy, product, technology, or a related field, or 5 years of experience with an advanced degree.
  • Experience working with C-level executives or cross-functionally across multiple levels of management.
Preferred qualifications:
  • 3 years of experience in the AI industry.
  • Experience leading complex operational and strategic initiatives.
  • Experience negotiating complex agreements or contracts.
  • Ability to create and present compelling presentations and briefs to executives and communicate effectively with a technical management team.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a large, matrixed organization and build strong, productive relationships internally.

About The Job

As a Strategic Partner Development Manager, you'll open doors with potential partners, lead exploratory discussions and evaluate/develop business opportunities. You will lead cross-functional teams, provide thought leadership and serve as a mentor to managers and associates. You are comfortable escalating and presenting business development strategies and key issues to senior management. You'll work closely with Google Product, Engineering, Legal and Sales teams on new product initiatives and key strategic relationships that support our online advertising business.

In this role, you will lead the cross-Google strategy for one or more strategic partners in the AI industry. You will combine your subject matter expertise with your critical thinking, investigative abilities and influencing skills to provide insightful and actionable recommendations to our business and product teams, and executives to develop strategies to ensure Google’s success in an increasingly engaged landscape.

The Global Partnerships organization is responsible for exploring new opportunities with Google's partners. Google’s Global Partnerships team works with a wide range of partners to bring the best of Google to power their business. The Global Partnerships team supports Google’s own Product teams with essential partnerships to help Google’s user experiences in advertising, Search, Assistant, Maps, Travel, Shopping, Payments and more. Teams create product-enabling partnerships, go-to-market strategies and incubate business growth for a variety of products.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $140000 - $203000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities
  • Orchestrate partnership strategy for AI partners internally across Business Development (BD), Product, Legal, and other cross-functional stakeholders. Drive cross-Google alignment to ensure fluid communication and successful landing of multi-faceted initiatives.
  • Provide strategic input on new partnership opportunities, contract negotiations, market announcements, and executive decision-making. Drive consensus on partnership outcomes that balance value and risk.
  • Develop compelling engagement strategies and briefings for Google’s executives (VP+), lead special projects that address cross-cutting issues and opportunities impacting the AI ecosystem globally.
  • Manage escalations and recommend risk mitigation paths, consulting with BD, legal, competition, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment around executive communications and risk mitigation.
  • Gather data from internal/external sources to become a recognized expert on specific companies in the AI industry to inform analyses on the potential impact to Google’s business or strategic approach.
