Job summary

Alpaca, a US-headquartered fintech, seeks a Head of Tax to lead the global tax function reporting to the Global Controller. You will own tax strategy, governance, compliance, reporting, and planning for a growing multinational company.

Partner with Finance, Legal, Treasury, and product teams to integrate tax considerations into expansion and product development. You will develop scalable tax processes and controls to support continued growth and readiness for potential public-company standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA and/or Master’s in Taxation strongly preferred.
• 8-10+ years of relevant tax experience, ideally combining public accounting and in-house corporate tax experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state taxation, with meaningful international tax experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the company’s global tax function including strategy, governance, risk management, compliance, reporting and planning.
• Oversee U.S. federal, state and international income tax compliance and foreign reporting.
• Manage indirect taxes including sales/use tax, VAT/GST, and cross-border taxes.
• Lead tax provision under U.S. GAAP (ASC 740) and related disclosures.
• Develop scalable tax processes, controls, and documentation for audit readiness.
• Lead transfer pricing policies and intercompany documentation across entities.
• Provide tax guidance on contracts, products, and regulated activities.
