Job summary

Whirlpool Corporation offers a 12-week Global Supply Chain Leadership Development Program (GSCLDP) internship starting May 2027 at our North American headquarters in Southwest Michigan. Interns own high-impact projects in either procurement or supply chain operations and may be considered for full-time opportunities after graduation.

Day-to-day work spans inventory management, transportation, cross-functional collaboration, and production planning.

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor's degree with plans to graduate by May 2029.
• Current cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
• Majoring in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transportation, Integrated Supply Management, Applied Engineering Sciences, Business Administration, or Finance.
• Must have indefinite US work authorization; visa sponsorship not provided.

Responsibilities

• Lead supply chain projects in Inventory Management, KPI dashboards, and data validation.
• Coordinate with Procurement, Manufacturing, Sales and Marketing teams.
• Support production planning and standard operating procedures exposure.
• Identify bottlenecks and propose process improvements across functions.

The Internship Program - May 2027 Start Date

The Global Supply Chain Leadership Development Program (GSCLDP) Internship is a 12 week immersive program designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of a global supply chain network. Interns take ownership of a high-impact project within either procurement or supply chain operations, driving tangible business results.

Upon successful completion of the summer internship program, you may be considered for employment opportunities within the full-time Global Supply Chain Leadership Development Program post-graduation.

Your day-to-day

Supply Chain project assignments could be in areas such as:

• Lead projects within Inventory Management such as SKU analysis, dashboard performance or data validation; creating resolutions and recommendations to business leaders and cross-functional stakeholders
• Manage projects within Inbound or Outbound Transportation such as carrier selection & routing strategy, primary carrier utilization, strategic materials management
• Coordinate with business partners across functions, from Procurement and Manufacturing to Sales and Marketing
• Be a part of the production planning team, gaining knowledge and experience with Standard Operating Procedures and production planning processes
• Identify bottlenecks and gaps for inventory control systems to identify process improvements

Procurement project assignments could be in areas such as:

• Work to develop global commodity strategies and analyze current strategies such as quoting, issuing orders, invoicing, expediting and other supplier business initiatives
• Identify cost savings with current supply base or analyze potential for new supplier relationships
• Lead raw materials forecasting for various commodities
• Assist Buyers in evaluating and monitoring supplier performance in delivery, quality, and cost
• Consolidate and standardize the supplier base, driving reductions in total cost and improvements in service and quality
• Assist with negotiation preparation and negotiation strategies
• Work with cross-functional and cross-regional teams on key projects and business initiatives

Work out of our North American headquarters in Southwest Michigan. Take advantage of pristine beaches, a thriving art scene, and lush countryside in our location along the coast of Lake Michigan.

Whirlpool provides complimentary housing at Lake Michigan College for interns who live 50 miles or more from Benton Harbor, Michigan

• Pursuing bachelor's degree with plans to graduate before or by May 2029

• Majoring in Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Transportation, Integrated Supply Management, Applied Engineering Sciences, Business Administration, or Finance
