Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc. is seeking a Global Supplier Manager to partner with Engineering, Procurement, Category Management and Sourcing to develop and refine the machining supply base strategy. You will lead supplier engagements, manage contracts, and improve supply chain efficiency while negotiating best price and terms.

The role reports to the Sr. Manager, Global Machining Category Management and requires 5+ years in supplier management, with CPIM/APICS preferred and experience with Oracle or

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical eng., business or supply chain.
  • 5+ years of supplier management experience in machining or similar.
  • CPIM and/or APICS certification preferred.
  • Experience developing supplier and supply chain strategies while addressing supplier issues.
  • Knowledge of Oracle and/or SAP procurement and planning modules.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine the machining category strategy.
  • Serve as single point of contact for key strategic suppliers.
  • Improve supply chain efficiency and solve dynamic problems.
  • Negotiate lowest total cost of ownership and best price, OTD, lead times, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage master supply agreements: templates, reviews, negotiations, execution and updates.
  • Monitor supplier performance using scorecards and conduct quarterly reviews.
  • Lead dual sourcing, resourcing and new supplier identification to support continuity.
  • Communicate strategy, risk mitigation and improvements to stakeholders.
  • Support sourcing activities and new supplier introductions.

Job description

A Day in Your Life at MKS

As a Global Supplier Manager at MKS Inc., you will partner with Engineering, Procurement, Category Management and Sourcing to develop, refine, and update the machining supply base strategy. In this role, you will report to the Sr. Manager, Global Machining Category Management.

You Will Make an Impact By:
  • Participate in developing and refining the MKS machining category strategy.
  • Single point of contact for business engagements with assigned key strategic globally managed machining suppliers.
  • Improve supply chain efficiency and solve dynamic problems that are important to the success of the company.
  • Draw on experience to successfully negotiate lowest total cost of ownership/best price, OTD, lead times, customer satisfaction, and agility.
  • Manage master supply agreement construction from templates, conduct contract reviews, negotiate, execute, monitor and update agreements.
  • Manage global supplier performance using scorecards, conduct quarterly supplier performance and business reviews.
  • Lead dual sourcing, resourcing and new supplier identification/introduction to achieve MKS’s business continuity strategy.
  • Communicate category strategy, risk mitigation plans and improvement ideas to key stakeholders.
  • Apply oversight and monitor projects associated with assigned key strategic suppliers.
  • Support sourcing activities and new supplier introduction.
Skills You Bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain (a master’s degree is preferred.)
  • 5+ years of related experience in supplier management in the area of machining or similar.
Preferred Skills:
  • CPIM and/or APICS certification.
  • Experience developing supplier and supply chain strategies while concurrently dealing with supplier tactical issues.
  • Expertise in Oracle and/or SAP procurement and planning modules.
  • Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn details of the semiconductor equipment industry.
  • Experience in managing Machine Shop contract manufacturers.
Travel Requirements:

Up to 25% of Travel is required.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time.

Ability to remain in a stationary position for 70% of the time.

Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.

Must be able to exchange accurate information.

Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.

Ability to observe documents and details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Pay Range: $109,750.00 - 182,900.00 USD per year. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
