Overview
KIPP St. Louis High School seeks a Global Studies and Psychology Teacher. This role brings a passion for history, culture, and the human mind into the classroom. You will teach global studies to explore diverse cultures, societies, and historical movements, and psychology to examine human behavior, thought processes, and identity. Together, these subjects deepen critical thinking, analytical and persuasive abilities, and help every student see themselves reflected in history and the study of human experience.
Start Date: Immediate Opening
Responsibilities
- Adapt and execute a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum
- Develop academically rigorous lessons, unit plans, rubrics, and assessments
- Use data to inform instructional decisions
- Provide students with daily feedback on performance and plan for individual learning needs
- Embody and maintain the school’s values, policies, and culture
- Develop positive relationships with students, families, teachers, and staff
- Establish and maintain strong communication with all parents and share progress
- Effectively supervise and manage a classroom of up to 30 students
- Show up for critical school events, including staff meetings, open houses, parent-teacher conferences, and more
- Pursue challenging professional goals each year
- Give and receive positive and constructive feedback from colleagues
- Participate in school-wide and individual professional development
- Operate a computer and office equipment on a daily basis
- Occasional moderate lifting, pushing, and pulling
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Interpret policy, procedures, and data
- Communicate effectively (verbal and written)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (REQUIRED)
- Valid Missouri Teacher Certification, Missouri Substitute Certification, or willingness to become certified ASAP (REQUIRED)
- Pass Criminal Background Check
- Demonstrated commitment to closing the opportunity gap
