Job summary

The Director of the International Student and Scholar Office (ISSO) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln leads the international office, overseeing immigration advising, employment-based visas, sponsored student programs, and exchange initiatives, while ensuring U.S. immigration compliance and student success campus-wide.

Qualifications

• Ability to provide leadership and strategic oversight for a comprehensive international student and scholar office.
• Experience or capacity to oversee immigration advising and employment-based visa services.
• Knowledge of SEVIS compliance responsibilities.
• Ability to serve as Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and Responsible Officer (RO).
• Supervisory and personnel management experience.
• Ability to manage office operations and budgets.
• Experience supporting international students, scholars, and intercultural initiatives.
• Capacity to lead programming related to student engagement and adjustment.

Responsibilities

• Provide vision, oversight, and leadership for all areas of the International Student and Scholar Office.
• Oversee immigration advising services for international students and scholars.
• Manage employment-based visa processes and support services.
• Supervise sponsored student and incoming exchange programs.
• Ensure that international students and scholars maintain legal status in the United States.
• Support student engagement and intercultural initiatives that enhance student success.
• Lead programming focused on international students’ personal development and adjustment.
• Direct the delivery of services in collaboration with staff members who report directly to the position.
• Serve as the university’s Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and Responsible Officer (RO).
• Oversee SEVIS compliance and related reporting responsibilities.
• Supervise Designated School Officials (DSOs) and Alternate Responsible Officers (AROs).
• Provide administrative leadership for office operations, budgets, and personnel.
