Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) — Center for Global Security Research (CGSR) invites master's and PhD students or recent graduates to engage in practical research on global security topics. RAs will work for three to four months as research associates, contributing to national security strategy development and LLNL's mission.

Projects span nuclear deterrence, arms control, nonproliferation, cybersecurity, space, biosecurity, and energy security, with opportunities for literature

Qualifications

• Must be eligible to access the Laboratory per NDAA requirements.
• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university and pursuing a graduate degree, or recently completed a degree in CGSR-related fields.
• Demonstrated academic and/or professional achievement in CGSR analytic priorities.
• Strong record of independent research and publications, or a strong research proposal for CGSR/LLNL.
• Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct an independent research project aligned with CGSR/LLNL priorities.
• Support CGSR/LLNL through literature reviews, annotated bibliographies, and workshop summary reports.
• Provide analysis with moderate to high technical/analytic effort.
• Assist in planning and execution of CGSR workshops.
• Gather and analyze data to support CGSR research efforts.
• Present research to LLNL staff at assignment end and prepare a final report/publication.
