Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a seasoned sales engineering professional to drive value-centric solutions for large diesel standby generators in Irving, TX. You will partner with regional sales teams, dealers and customers to maximize product value and growth.

You will develop training programs, lead allocation processes, and engage in industry events, building strong cross-functional relationships and facilitating customer-focused outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering; equivalent experience considered.
  • Experience in power generation, energy systems or related industries.
  • Experience in field, dealer, customer-facing, sales engineering or technical-commercial roles.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, relationships and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work across regions, cultures and organizations with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as global SME for large diesel standby generators, leading regional sales teams, dealers and customers.
  • Lead development and implementation of customer-focused solutions to maximize value and growth.
  • Lead monthly product allocation, maximize satisfaction and orders, advise on high-value opportunities.
  • Develop and deliver product, application and value-selling training for dealers and field teams.

What you will do
  • Serve as a global subject matter expert for large diesel standby generator sets providing commercial leadership and technical guidance to regional sales teams, dealers, and customers.
  • Lead the development and implementation of customer‑focused solutions that maximize product value, differentiate Caterpillar offerings, and drive profitable growth.
  • Lead monthly product allocation process, maximizing customer satisfaction and factory order to delivery. Provide consultative support on high‑value and complex sales opportunities, including solution development, customer engagement, value proposition creation, and deal strategy.
  • Develop and deliver product, application, and value‑selling training programs that enhance dealer and field team capabilities and improve commercial effectiveness.
  • Represent the organization at industry events, trade shows, customer meetings, and dealer conferences, serving as a recognized expert and advocate for assigned products and solutions.
  • Collaborate with sales and product definition teams to capture customer insights, market feedback, and emerging industry needs that influence product strategy and business priorities.
  • Mentor and influence commercial teams through knowledge sharing, coaching, and best‑practice development while fostering a culture of continuous learning and customer focus.
What you will have

Top Candidates Will Also Have
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university, preferably Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. Equivalent professional experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience in power generation, energy systems, electrical systems, or related industries.
  • Experience in field, dealer, customer-facing, sales engineering, application engineering, or related technical-commercial roles.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, relationship-building, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across regions, cultures, and organizations while aligning diverse stakeholders around common objectives.

The position is located in Irving, TX.

Alternative locations: Griffin, GA; Lafayette, IN; Peoria, IL

Travel up to 30% is required.

Domestic relocation assistance is offered for this position.

This position requires the candidate to work a 5-day‑a‑week schedule in the office.

Summary Pay Range

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
