The EM Edge Economics team is seeking a junior economist based in New York. This role offers exposure to frontier economies, primarily in Central America and the Caribbean, and requires a strong understanding of macroeconomic data and forecasting techniques. As part of a team ranked first in all categories of the Extel survey, you will contribute to award-winning research and actionable ideas for our clients.

Job responsibilities

• Analyze macro and fundamental drivers of covered economies, producing regular research and deep-dive reports
• Create and maintain models and analytical tools for frontier economies
• Collaborate with global economists to deliver forward-looking forecasts and commentary
• Liaise with local markets (rates and FX) and credit strategists
• Interact with external institutional clients and assist internal sales and trading teams
• Organize investor trips, conferences, webinars, and maintain external relationships to enhance research efforts

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• 3-5 years of financial services experience (global markets, fixed income, or economics) covering frontier economies
• Master’s degree in economics or finance preferred
• Solid economic background and knowledge of political/economic developments in Latin America
• Strong quantitative skills with proven ability to build macro-models; proficiency in spreadsheets and statistical programming (EViews, R, Python)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills (Spanish speaking highly desirable)
• Intellectual curiosity, strong work ethic, and team player mentality
• Adaptability and ability to work well under pressure in a deadline-driven environment

• Experience with business writing and communication for research publications
