Job description

About Aspora

People on the move deserve a bank that moves with them. Since 2022, Aspora has been building a borderless financial operating system that makes money as mobile and transparent as its users.

Backed by influential venture capitalists like Sequoia Capital, Greylock Partners, Hummingbird Ventures, Y Combinator & Global Founders Capital. We're a team of 150+ across India, the UK, the UAE, EU and the US, working with extreme ownership, radical candour, and an obsession with customer impact.

We celebrate builders who question assumptions, ship fast, and turn regulatory complexity into elegant solutions. If you’re driven to redefine what global banking can be, we’d love to build the future with you.

About the Role

People build lives across borders, and their finances should move with them. We’re building Aspora for the global diaspora, starting with Indians abroad. Regulation sits at the centre of that ambition. This role exists to turn a complex set of requirements into a practical way to build and run the business. One global framework, local differences only where the law needs them, and decisions made by clear frameworks rather than daily escalations.

You’ll lead licensing, regulator engagement, product advice, safeguarding oversight, customer protection and operational resilience. You’ll report to our COO, working alongside our Global MLRO. You’ll partner with Product, Engineering, Operations, Finance and local compliance owners to turn requirements into working controls. You’ll own the regulatory calls on launches, changes and the commitments we make to regulators.

Who You Are

You don’t see regulation as a reason to say no, or as something to work around. You know a hard boundary from a choice, and your depth goes well beyond AML or licensing paperwork.

  • You’ve scaled fintechs before. You’ve helped a payments, remittance or e-money business grow, in house or as a consultant, and can show what you changed.

  • You turn expertise into execution. You’ve translated payments and e-money requirements into customer journeys, controls and processes, with fewer failures and less friction to show for it.

  • You get permissions over the line. You’ve owned licensing or variation work and regulatory reporting, and kept applications, governance and operating reality consistent throughout.

  • You speak regulator fluently, and you’ve been tested. You’ve handled supervisory questions, inspections or a hard remediation, made sound calls under pressure and stayed until it was fixed.

  • You’ve set standards at HQ level. You’ve built shared standards across markets and distributed teams, and you know where local law needs a difference and where duplication is habit.

  • You’ve seen controls work in practice. You go deep on UK payments, e-money, safeguarding and customer protection, and you’ve followed gaps through to a verified fix.

  • You’re on the way up. Your career shows quick progression, growing ownership and real depth. We’ll judge the work you’ve done, not the title you hold.

Most importantly, you want to build a global regulatory framework from the ground up and see it work in practice.

What You’ll Own

This is a role with a genuinely global mandate, with UK payments and e-money regulation as the depth anchor.

  • Own licensing and regulator engagement. Lead permissions, perimeter analysis, applications and variations, with accurate filings and a clear register of every commitment we make.

  • Shape products before they launch. Assess launches and changes against UK PSRs, EMRs and FCA rules, and turn horizon scanning into owned implementation plans.

  • Hold safeguarding to a high standard. Challenge the design, test the evidence and keep us audit ready, partnering with Finance on reconciliations and governance.

  • Make customer protection measurable. Drive Consumer Duty, fair value, vulnerable customers, complaints and partner oversight, using outcome data to spot harm and assign action.

  • Own the regulatory view on resilience. Partner with operations and technology owners on service mapping, testing and outsourcing oversight, and own the incident reporting decisions.

  • Build one global framework. Set shared standards across markets, add local differences only where law requires them, and bring in local expertise where it’s needed.

What you build here will shape where Aspora can launch, how quickly we get there, and how much regulators trust us along the way.

Why Aspora
  • Define the global regulatory compliance framework for a borderless financial platform, from first principles.

  • Work directly with our COO and Global MLRO, and partner closely with Product, Engineering, Finance and Operations.

  • Set the standard for how a regulated fintech scales across multiple jurisdictions without losing pace.

  • Own licensing, product advice, safeguarding oversight and customer protection from day one, not a narrow slice of compliance.

  • Competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and ESOPs aligned with Aspora’s long-term vision.
