Job description

About Aspora

People on the move deserve a bank that moves with them. Since 2022, Aspora has been building a borderless financial operating system that makes money as mobile and transparent as its users.

Backed by influential venture capitalists like Sequoia Capital, Greylock Partners, Hummingbird Ventures, Y Combinator & Global Founders Capital. We're a team of 150+ across India, the UK, the UAE, EU and the US, working with extreme ownership, radical candour, and an obsession with customer impact.

We celebrate builders who question assumptions, ship fast, and turn regulatory complexity into elegant solutions. If you’re driven to redefine what global banking can be, we’d love to build the future with you.

About the Role

People build lives across borders, and their money should move with them. Every product, corridor and payment rail we add opens a new door for fraudsters. We want to be the least attractive target on our corridors, without adding friction for good customers. This role exists to own how we detect and deter fraud across every rail and geo.

You’ll lead fraud detection and deterrence end to end, from exposure mapping to rules, limits and customer protection. You report to our Head of Financial Crime and work alongside the fraud recovery and chargebacks lead. You partner with Product, Payments, Engineering, Customer Support and Compliance on every launch. You decide what ships on day one, and you own the trade-off between fraud caught and friction added.

Who You Are

You don’t see fraud as a dashboard to watch. You see it as a live contest, won or lost in seconds, and you’ve been in it.

  • You’ve done multiple rodeos. You’ve worked fraud at more than one fintech or high-velocity regulated platform across the UK, EU or US. That could be a neobank, payments company, gambling operator, gaming platform or crypto exchange. You know how attacks, rails and rules differ in each.

  • You’ve built controls from scratch. At a B2C fintech, you built fraud controls that didn’t exist before, while protecting consumer money at scale.

  • You’ve worked the floor. You started as an investigator and worked alerts and cases by hand. You spot a pattern before it shows on a dashboard.

  • You’ve been baptised by fire. You’ve handled a real fraud attack or loss spike and made fast calls under pressure. You stayed on it until the fix held, and learned from every case.

  • You own the approach. You decide how to tackle a problem and see it through end to end, without waiting to be told.

  • You see every launch as a new door. You map where fraud can get in before go-live, not after the first losses land.

  • You protect good customers too. You stop fraud without adding friction for the people we serve, and you can show the numbers behind it.

Most importantly, you’d rather build the right controls once, on our own decisioning platform, than tune vendor defaults forever.

What You’ll Own

This is a role with a mandate across every rail, product and geo we operate in.

  • See the exposure, everywhere. Map where fraud can hit us on every rail, product and geo, and own the observability layer that lets us watch it live.

  • Build rules that hold. Stand up rule building and governance on our decisioning platform, with every change back-tested before it ships.

  • Tier exposure by risk. Design progressive access to payment rails by risk tier, so trusted customers move freely and limits grow with trust.

  • Measure every trade-off. Track each control change in fraud caught against friction added, and retire the rules that no longer earn their place.

  • Protect customers in the moment. Put vulnerable-customer education and in-the-moment verification on every rail, without slowing good customers down.

  • Launch with controls from day one. Make sure every new product, geo or rail has a signed-off exposure map before it goes live.

Your calls will shape how fast Aspora can open new corridors, and how safely customers move money once we’re there.

Why Aspora
  • Define how Aspora detects and deters fraud across every rail and geo, and set the playbook every launch follows.

  • Work directly with our Head of Financial Crime, and partner with Product, Payments and Engineering on every launch.

  • Build controls on our own decisioning platform, across high-volume cross-border flows at significant scale.

  • Own fraud strategy from day one, from exposure mapping through to customer protection.

  • Competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and ESOPs aligned with Aspora’s long-term vision.
