Job summary

Commercial Vehicle Group, Inc. seeks a Purchasing Project Buyer to lead strategic purchasing initiatives and cost-reduction projects across the organization. You will partner with Purchasing, Engineering, Operations, Finance, and suppliers to drive execution and measurable results.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of purchasing experience in manufacturing, strong analytical and project management skills, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams in a fast-paced global environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of direct purchasing experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects from concept to implementation.
• Experience with cost reduction, supplier management, negotiations, and sourcing.
• Familiarity with AIAG project management processes or structured PM methodologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to influence teams without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Lead purchasing projects focused on cost reduction, supplier performance, and operational improvements.
• Analyze spend, costs, market conditions, and supplier risks to identify savings opportunities.
• Develop project plans, milestones, and owner assignments; track progress to completion.
• Collaborate with Purchasing, Engineering, Operations, and Finance to implement projects.
• Support supplier negotiations, bid evaluations, and policy development.
• Prepare business cases and communicate status and results to leadership.
• Ensure project documentation is accurate and accessible to stakeholders.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams and drive program launches across CVG locations.
