Job summary

Discord’s Public Policy team drives external engagement globally from its San Francisco HQ. You’ll lead partnerships with civil society, industry groups and governments, shaping policy-relevant strategy and managing high-profile visits for officials and executives.

The role requires 5+ years in public policy, strong stakeholder management, and the ability to translate complex tech issues into clear narratives.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in public policy, public affairs, and/or civil society partnerships.
• Experience owning and executing a multi-year public affairs or partnership program.
• Experience building and managing partnerships across regions with civil society, academics, and industry leaders.
• Track record planning visits, delegations or events for senior government officials and executives.
• Familiarity with technology policy issues.

Responsibilities

• Shape and execute a global external affairs strategy to strengthen relationships with policymakers, regulators, civil society, academia and industry.
• Build and manage a portfolio of strategic partnerships advancing policy and business objectives.
• Measure impact of partnerships and engagements and report outcomes to leadership.
• Own Discord’s headquarters visit program for policymakers and government officials.
• Lead special projects such as external events, policy research initiatives, and cross-regional campaigns.
• Develop external-facing materials including briefing books, talking points, presentations and proposals.
• Own the Public Policy team’s budgets and related operational projects.
