Job summary

Alexion Pharmaceuticals in Boston, MA is seeking a Medical Director, Global Patient Safety (GPS) to lead safety and risk management activities for clinical development projects and marketed products, ensuring safe use for patients and healthcare providers.

You will lead risk management, deliver safety strategy and study design input, chair safety teams, and represent GPS in governance committees, driving risk/benefit decisions across assets.

Qualifications

• MD or equivalent degree and demonstrated Patient Safety and/or Clinical/Drug Development experience.
• Strong problem solving skills with ability to develop innovative options.
• Ability to manage multiple overlapping complex tasks to conclusion, sometimes under tight timelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead risk management evaluation and resolution for assigned products and projects.
• Own safety content for assets and indications and align with product strategy.
• Chair or direct Safety Management Team for projects to ensure safety-driven decisions from inception to closure.
• Represent GPS at internal committees and external meetings as a subject matter expert.
• Detect, validate, and manage safety signals from pre- to post-approval through resolution.
• Contribute to regulatory safety documents and labeling updates as needed.
