Job summary

Lilly, headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, seeks a Packaging Engineer to advance reusable packaging initiatives and global technical support. You will lead capital projects, collaborate across engineering, QA, and operations, and drive packaging standardization and sustainability.

The role requires a bachelor’s in packaging or STEM, 3+ years in packaging, and strong vendor management. Excellent problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership are expected in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Package Engineering, Engineering, or another STEM-related field.
• 3+ years of experience in packaging (parenteral/wet/dry).
• Experience with design and development of reusable packaging.
• Experience with vendor management, including selection & qualification.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; no visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Develop budget proposals for packaging capital projects and coordinate with engineering, procurement, and operations to define specifications.
• Provide continuous technical support to packaging engineering teams globally; mentor and share knowledge.
• Offer packaging technical support to Lilly operations worldwide including materials, equipment, and processes.
• Lead multi-project management from concept to implementation within budget and schedule.
• Identify opportunities for reusable packaging and sustainability aligned with Lilly goals.
