Colorado State University’s One Health Institute is seeking a postdoctoral fellow in Fort Collins, CO. The role involves field and laboratory work for bat-related research, international travel to Ghana and Nigeria, and collaboration with partners across sectors to advance One Health initiatives.

The fellowship supports research design, data analysis, grant development, and dissemination, including mentoring trainees and contributing to publications while coordinating with CHIRO and CREID

Qualifications

• Doctoral or professional degree in veterinary medicine or related field.
• Understanding of One Health principles.
• Ability to travel internationally.
• Prior experience capturing and collecting biological samples from bats.
• Experience with infectious or potentially infectious materials.
• Molecular lab experience including PCR and sequencing.
• Experience analyzing and interpreting scientific data.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.

Responsabilités

• Country liaison for international bat field surveillance activities while supporting bat experimental projects.
• Perform animal field capture and collection of biological specimens; manage and analyze data.
• Train partner laboratories and perform molecular analyses of bat samples, ensuring compliance with policies and guidelines.
• Draft and contribute to CHIRO manuscripts, reports, presentations, and other dissemination activities; design and implement a related independent research project.
• Serve CSU staff presence for all animal captures as covered by the CSU OLAW Assurance for the CREID grant.
• Assist in One Health outreach activities and participate in One Health Institute activities and collaborations.
• Mentor graduate and professional students; develop instructional materials and assist with teaching One Health courses.
