Airbus Commercial is looking for a Global Mobility Immigration Manager to join our team in Herndon, VA.


As a member of the Airbus America's Global Mobility (GM) team, the Global Mobility Immigration Manager will be responsible for overseeing the U.S. immigration program. This role will be responsible for the immigration compliance and strategy of the program utilizing our outside immigration provider to ensure adherence to all U.S. immigration laws and regulations. This role is less about tactical intervention, more about effectively managing vendors, internal stakeholders, deadlines, projects, and driving operational excellence and continuous process/efficiency improvements, fully utilizing internal and external client technologies. In addition, this role will need to cross-collaborate with various internal stakeholders to ensure the program's operational excellence which will be pivotal in navigating the changing immigration landscape and delivering a premium experience to our employees and business partners.

Your Challenges

Primary Responsibilities


  • Manage Airbus' U.S. immigration operations, including successful and timely immigration case initiations, expirations, renewals, file closings, Permanent Labor Certification (PERM) process, reviewing and approving petitions to be filed, and liaising with the employees and internal stakeholder to communicate case disposition and status.

  • Effectively implement immigration vendor's central case management database system to efficiently manage immigration cases.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all cases in case management systems as required.

  • Conduct initial immigration briefings with candidates and HRBPs in partnership with the Global Mobility team.

  • Utilize the immigration vendor(s) to provide legal advice on current and future cases and upcoming US projects requiring foreign assignees/transferees.

  • Coordinate meetings and communication with employees, human resources business partners (HRBPs), business leaders so the immigration vendor can give their legal opinions on tactical immigration matters.

  • Operate as a subject matter expert to facilitate strategic discussions with key internal business stakeholders to help them in understanding the implications of non-immigrant and immigrant visa sponsorship (cost, compliance, timing, business impact) before decisions are made.

  • Stay up-to-date on constantly evolving immigration laws, regulations, and policies.

  • Meet with internal management and key stakeholders to provide immigration program updates and business reviews, while understanding their business operational needs and formulating solutions to those needs.

  • Ensure all immigration workflows and processes are properly documented and mapped ensuring we have standard operational procedures we can share with team members and stakeholders.

  • Generate reports and maintain dashboards of immigration activities to analyze and track program performance.

  • Regularly review our established immigration processes and Identify opportunities for business efficiencies and continuous process improvements

  • Ensure all immigration workflows and processes are properly documented and mapped with standard operational procedures we can share with team members and stakeholders.

  • Work with multi-functional teams to address process improvement opportunities.

  • Develop immigration training materials and tools to educate GM team members and internal business stakeholders on immigration policies and processes.

  • Conduct regular training to GM, HRBPs, and recruiting on the immigration process and related tasks.

  • Explain complex immigration laws, policies, and procedures in a clear and understandable manner.

  • Ensure all applications and processes comply with federal and state immigration laws.


Vendor management


  • Proactively manage vendor relationships ensuring all services are provided in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with our agreed upon service level agreement and they are in alignment with the Company's overall immigration strategies and business objectives.

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of immigration vendor invoicing and payments. Manage the overall immigration budget, including partnering with finance and legal departments to obtain annual budgetary approval.

  • Regularly partner with our immigration vendor to conduct data integrity and case status audits. Ensure immigration case management system data integrity is well maintained.

  • Coordinate annual and semi-annual business review meetings with the immigration vendors.

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 6+ years' of US immigration experience.

  • Experience managing a large US immigration program designed to deliver a premium employee experience while maintaining immigration compliance.

  • Ability to prioritize daily workload (initiations, case reviews, client emails) while managing multiple project priorities and deadlines.

  • Project management and LEAN methodologies preferred.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestic and international

  • Lifting: Several times a week able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.

  • Pushing / Pulling: Several times a week able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.

  • Sitting: Daily able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer.

  • Squatting / Kneeling: Several times a month able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.

  • Standing: Daily able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor.

  • Travel: Rarely able to travel independently and at short notice.

  • Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): Daily able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.

  • Appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor


Salary range

Salary range based on the required profile: $105,000 - $120,000 Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on geographic differential. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
