Job summary

Coverys, Inc. is seeking an experienced Underwriter to oversee medical professional liability underwriting with a global perspective and to build a profitable book of business focusing on groups and facilities.

The role requires strong leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to communicate underwriting decisions clearly. Base salary is disclosed, with compensation packages varying by location and experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
• CPCU and/or RPLU studies are preferred.
• Active Property and Casualty Producers license.
• 4+ years of Medical Professional Liability underwriting required.
• Strong producer relationships are preferred.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business materials and regulations.
• Ability to write effective reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to present information clearly to groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes information to decide on account acceptance or declination and determine classification.
• Approves applications, renewals, and endorsements within authority.
• Determines rating plans and accurately calculates premiums.
• Communicates underwriting decisions effectively and documents them.
• Manages assigned territory within guidelines and meets financial objectives.
• Develops relationships with agent/broker partners through efficient communication.
• Leads training sessions on underwriting processes as needed.
• Keeps knowledge of competitive landscape for pricing and products.
• Participates in presentations to current and prospective insureds.
• Performs other duties and special projects; researches healthcare and insurance trends.
