Job summary

Otsuka America Pharmaceutical Inc. in the United States seeks a Senior Director, Inborn Errors of Metabolism, Global Medical Affairs, to lead medical strategy and launch activities for a rare-disease asset across US and global teams.

You will oversee data generation, manuscripts, publications, and cross-functional plans, travel up to 30-40%, and mentor a high-performing team to ensure compliant scientific communications.

Qualifications

• MD, PhD or PharmD with exceptional leadership experience in Medical Affairs (or equivalent).
• Minimum of 10 years in Medical Affairs.
• 5–7 years supervisory experience
• Experience launching new medicines, preferably in rare disease.
• Extensive understanding of products, development, commercialization, and industry.
• Proven track record of building high-performing teams.
• Strong statistical knowledge and data interpretation.
• Travel up to 30–40% domestically and internationally.
• Experience in rare diseases preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive launch strategy and launch prep for medical affairs deliverables.
• Oversees global medical affairs planning with US and global functions.
• Develop and drive strategic vision for asset and TrPP.
• Annual data gap analysis for data generation plan.
• Global evidence generation review to harmonize Phase IIIB/IV programs.
• Oversee core content development with strategy lead.
• Create Global Publication Plans and disseminate data.
• Coordinate data across US and regions.
• Develop manuscripts, presentations, posters.
• Interact with experts to obtain feedback on clinical data.
• Provide input into regulatory documents, including labeling.
• Establish SOPs and standards for medical communications.
• Ensure compliance with CO and SOPs.
