Job summary

Saildrone is seeking a Technical Operations Engineer to join our Fleet Operations Team. You will ensure reliability and readiness of our autonomous surface vehicles across their lifecycle, from development to global deployments.

The role requires a systems-minded engineer who can move quickly to root cause and translate vehicle performance into improvements. Expect remote support, cross-functional collaboration, and global travel.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline.
2+ years supporting complex embedded systems, robotics, or autonomous hardware.
Ability to interprete electrical diagrams/schematics and mechanical drawings for repairs.

Responsibilities

Diagnose hardware, software, and networking issues using Linux tools and telemetry.
Own technical outcomes for assigned vehicles including reliability and performance.
Lead root-cause analyses for field failures and drive corrective actions.
Collaborate with Engineering on system architecture and testing.
Travel up to 30% to deploy, troubleshoot, and support missions.
Develop clear work instructions and training materials.
