Job summary

Chefman is seeking a Director of Overseas Manufacturing and Quality to lead our manufacturing partner network, ensuring products are built to our standards. This role bridges Mahwah design teams with overseas factories in China, driving manufacturability, cost efficiency, and quality from day one.

The ideal candidate has 10–15 years of hands-on factory leadership, extensive travel to China, and a track record of reducing defects while scaling production for consumer electronics.

Qualifications

• 10-15+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership with consumer hardware.
• Hands-on oversight of factory floor operations and processes.
• Proven improvements to quality, yield, and profitability via factory partnerships.
• Deep understanding of tooling, injection molding, and electromechanical assembly.
• Structured root-cause problem solving and continuous improvement with partners.
• Experience aligning SOPs across multiple factory sites.
• Willingness to travel extensively to China; leadership presence on the floor.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• Mandarin fluency preferred; IoT consumer products exposure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing strategy and execution across overseas partner network.
• Partner with Product Development to ensure manufacturability and quality from day one.
• Align factory SOPs, assembly procedures, and quality standards.
• Maintain regular presence on assembly lines and build strong factory relationships.
• Develop reporting systems for yield, quality, and production trends.
• Lead root-cause investigations (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) with factory teams.
• Serve as senior point of contact for complex production challenges.
• Build and develop manufacturing and quality engineers to scale operations.
• Evaluate new manufacturing partnerships and capacity as business grows.
• Own cost and efficiency relationships while safeguarding quality.
