Job description

Global Kids, Youth Engagement Specialist

Global Kids (GK) educates, inspires, and mobilizes youth to become global citizens who are positively engaged in the world and are prepared for their future. We are recruiting dedicated individuals passionate about youth development, global education, and social action. The role involves community engagement, youth programming, and family outreach within NYC middle and high school programs, especially in the South Bronx.

This is an in-person position requiring travel to school sites Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends. We encourage committed applicants to join us in empowering youth and fostering community change.

Responsibilities
  • Support partner schools in improving attendance through meetings, developing metrics, monitoring success, and analyzing challenges with a SEL perspective.
  • Promote a positive school climate emphasizing safety, community, and positivity to enhance attendance.
  • Build capacity to address attendance needs, develop incentives, and implement interventions.
  • Use tools like New Visions, Kinvolved, robocalls, emails, and calls to analyze data and communicate findings.
  • Maintain documentation including enrollment, attendance, case notes, and program materials.
  • Assist in writing progress reports for principals and supervisors.
  • Develop relationships with parents, community members, and school staff; conduct home visits as needed.
  • Collaborate with staff and youth on program ideas related to global/local issues.
  • Provide academic counseling, support, and SEL to students.
  • Participate in PBIS meetings, develop lessons, and coordinate incentive programs like RACK EM UP.
  • Work with PBIS/MTSS staff and external partners like Northwell for student support.
  • Implement special projects and occasionally participate in overnight or long-distance travel.
Qualifications
  • 3-4 years of experience working with youth.
  • Knowledge of NYC social services, public schools, and Community Schools Initiative is a plus.
  • Experience with youth development, counseling, conflict resolution, and leadership strategies.
  • Commitment to diversity and anti-racist practices.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, organizational, and tech skills.
  • International experience and multilingual abilities (Spanish, Arabic) are advantages.

Salary: $45,000–$50,000 annually, with benefits including health insurance, paid holidays, vacation, and travel opportunities.
