Job summary

Henkel is seeking a student intern for our Consumer Brands unit in the United States, working in the chemical lab to develop laundry formulations and test new product ideas. You’ll apply academic chemistry knowledge to create and optimize formulas and present findings to management.

Ideal candidates are at least a junior or senior or master's student in chemical engineering or chemistry, with strong Excel skills, clear communication, and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams

Qualifications

  • Currently a junior or senior or master's/graduate student in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
  • Proficient in Excel for data analysis, pivot tables, and charts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Create and test laundry formulations in a laboratory setting using chemistry knowledge.
  • Conduct experiments to develop and optimize new product formulas.
  • Use laboratory instrumentation to measure properties and predict product performance.
  • Collect and interpret data to assess formulation effectiveness.
  • Present findings to management with clear, impactful insights.

What you’ll do
  • Creating and testing laundry formulations in a laboratory setting using academic chemistry knowledge.
  • Conducting experiments to develop and optimize new product formulas.
  • Using laboratory instrumentation to measure physical properties and predict product performance.
  • Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting experimental data to assess formulation effectiveness.
  • Translating scientific findings into actionable insights through clear, impactful presentations to management.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Additional information
  • This internship is eligible for a housing stipend or relocation support.
  • This internship has a duration of January 11th - August 13th
  • Recruitment for our 2027 internships starts in September 2026 and runs through early March 2027 or until all our positions are filled

The salary for this role is $22-$27/hour. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
