Job summary

Weber, Inc. in Kansas City, MO, is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, develop, commission, and support industrial automation for Weber equipment and production lines. You will collaborate with global teams to deliver scalable software across PLC platforms.

The role requires PLC programming, IEC 61131-3 proficiency, and experience with industrial networking; Siemens/Schneider/Beckhoff ecosystems are a plus. Travel is involved within North America and occasionally Europe.

Qualifications

Experience programming PLC-based automation systems.
Knowledge of IEC 61131-3 programming standards.
Experience with industrial networking and communications (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, OPC UA, Modbus TCP).
Siemens TIA Portal and S7 PLC experience preferred.
Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Machine Expert experience preferred.
Beckhoff TwinCAT experience preferred.
Motion control and servo systems experience preferred.
Machine safety systems experience preferred.
Systematical problem-solving ability and good time management essential.
Understanding of pneumatic and electrical controls and machine design.
Familiarity with object-oriented programming preferred.
Experience in commissioning full lines and individual machines preferred.
Ability to make software changes following predefined standards.
Excellent understanding of modular and scalable programming methods.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
German as a second language would be a benefit.

Responsibilities

Design and develop PLC, HMI, motion control, and safety software.
Configure and integrate third-party equipment into production line solutions.
Participate in machine commissioning, FATs, SATs, and startup activities.
Troubleshoot and resolve automation, controls, and communication issues.
Support standardization and modularization of software architecture.
Collaborate with global engineering teams to align with standards.
Create and maintain technical documentation and commissioning reports.
Provide technical support to service, applications, and modifications teams.
Support continuous improvement initiatives for machine performance and software quality.
