Job summary

EMD Serono, Inc. is seeking a senior medical leader to provide strategic direction across global immunology programs. You will guide clinical development planning, target product profiles, and indication strategies, ensuring scientific rigor and patient centricity.

The role includes leading cross-functional teams, regulatory interactions, and governance communications. You will mentor clinical development colleagues, drive protocol development, and oversee execution while maintaining

Qualifications

• Medical Degree (MD/DO or international equivalent); board certification preferred.
• 10+ years immunology, rheumatology, or related autoimmune/inflammatory diseases with hands-on patient care.
• 5+ years medical leadership in pharma/biotech clinical development.
• Global Clinical Lead/Clinical Program Lead or equivalent for complex programs.
• Experience leading global Phase 2/3 or registrational studies and lifecycle planning.
• Strong benefit-risk understanding, indication strategy, and evidence generation.
• Experience supporting health authority interactions (FDA, EMA, etc.).
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior medical and strategic leadership across global immunology programs.
• Lead global clinical development planning including target product profiles and indications.
• Serve as senior medical decision-maker on development options, risks, and data interpretation.
• Drive protocol development, oversee clinical execution, document rationale, risks, and mitigations.
• Collaborate across Clinical Development, Regulatory, Safety, Biostatistics, Translational Medicine, Medical Affairs, Market Access.
• Lead regulatory interactions and communicate clinical results through reports, publications, governance forums.
• Engage investigators, key opinion leaders, and patient communities to inform strategy and credibility; mentor cross-functional teams.
• Role based for a minimum of 3 days on-site.
