Job summary

The Gates Foundation's Institute for Disease Modeling (IDM) seeks a Research Program Manager to lead and coordinate multiple research portfolios, partnering with leaders to define, prioritize, and execute cross-cutting initiatives.

This is a 24-month Limited Term Employment position in Seattle with relocation assistance to support collaboration across researchers, software engineers, and leadership advancing global health goals.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of program management experience across multiple projects.
• Experience in complex or multi-disciplinary research management, ideally in global health.
• Experience applying research processes and best practices to complex programs.
• Ability to engage engineering teams and contribute to requirements and roadmap discussions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for diverse audiences.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to synthesize complex information.
• Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.
• Must have unrestricted work authorization in the country of location.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple research portfolios with leadership and deputy directors.
• Align portfolio work with IDM priorities and flag trade-offs as landscapes evolve.
• Coordinate with software teams to align research needs with modeling tools.
• Develop domain depth in relevant research areas and modeling technologies.
• Synthesize findings to inform portfolio-level decisions and surface options for leadership.
• Design program processes and frameworks to keep work moving efficiently across teams.
