Job summary

Human Rights Watch in New York seeks a Deputy Director, Executive Communications to partner with global leadership and shape executive visibility, narrative, and public engagement across priority issues. Reporting to the Global Communications Director in London, the role leads strategy for executive message development, media opportunities, and social media support, coordinating with HRW teams worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Set and lead an executive communications strategy for HRW's leadership.
  • Shape executive voice across media, op-eds, social media, and public engagements.
  • Identify and secure platforms and forums for high-impact visibility.
  • Coordinate with HRW communications, program, advocacy, and development teams.
  • Advise senior leaders on tone, positioning, and influence strategies.
  • Prepare leaders for interviews, panels, speeches, and advocacy moments.
  • Uphold high editorial standards balancing authenticity and clarity.
