At JLL, we are driving sustainability through everything that we do, across all service lines and job positions. Specifically, we are growing our Sustainability practice to drive end-to-end sustainability solutions in real estate, from site selection to decommissioning.

In this role, you will work directly with one of our clients, implementing the sustainability program across the relevant target sites globally. The role will report into the JLL’s Sustainability Operations Global Director in a matrixed organization. Key role responsibilities include implementation, optimization and management of a targeted energy management program that deliver measurable savings, carbon reduction, and utilities cost management.

This position is a fully remote position. Being located near a client hub site of Austin, Kansas City, Nashville, Burlington, MA, is a plus but not required.

What this job involves

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute site level energy management strategies for highest impact target sites worldwide.
  • Design and implement sustainability programs targeting measurable savings, carbon reduction, and cost optimization.
  • Identify and prioritize cost-effective energy optimization opportunities that align with existing capital and operational budget frameworks.
  • Partner closely with regional site teams and facility managers to implement energy programs and reach sustainability objectives.
  • Conduct remote or site assessments to identify sustainability conservation opportunities and operational improvement.
  • Drive operational improvements through systematic identification and implementation of energy performance enhancement opportunities and ECMs.
  • Engage with JLL facility managers to become the key point of contact for the provision of wide-ranging advice in relation to all aspects of environmental sustainability.
  • Support corporate sustainability reporting objectives and provide management information relating to the use of utilities and the impact on the internal and external environment.
  • Leverage energy, waste, and water data collection process within JLL’s and client technology platforms and produce monthly and quarterly reports tailored to clients’ specific requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvements through data analysis and benchmarking.
  • Provide actionable management insights on utility usage patterns.
  • Collaborate with other JLL energy managers globally to share best practices, develop case studies and develop new business opportunities.
  • Develop and optimize systems and processes to deliver industry-leading sustainability performance, utilizing utility and sustainability management platforms for comprehensive monitoring and reporting.
  • Support cross-functional teams in delivering sustainability projects to meet portfolio-wide sustainability goals.

Requirements – Essentials
  • 5+ years energy management experience
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) Certification
  • University Degree (Science, engineering, math or related fields)
  • Technical understanding of HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and building automation systems
  • Proficiency in conducting on-site and desktop assessments to identify water, waste, energy and carbon savings opportunities (e.g. ASHRAE Level 3)
  • In-depth understanding of energy and water conservation measures in the built environment
  • Experience with benchmarking and analyzing utility data to drive sustainability measures
  • Experience supporting and managing project delivery by providing technical services guidance and direction to achieve and monitor energy and sustainability project goals
  • Develop supplier relationships to manage the delivery of environmental and sustainability projects and report on progress made
  • Proven ability to work effectively with remote teams and implement projects through local partnerships
  • In-depth understanding of Greenhouse Gas Emission scopes and reporting
  • Ability to explain complex technical or sensitive information and build consensus across diverse stakeholders
Requirements – Desirable
  • Experience conducting site walkthroughs to find conservation measures (e.g. ASHRAE Level 1 and 2)
  • Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a high pressure, globally-distributed environment
  • Experience in the preparation of tenders and work orders and ability to select appropriate equipment and service vendors
  • Knowledge of environmental reporting, utility management and energy budgets, environmental improvement programs, and ISO 14001 compliance
  • Familiarity with energy procurement processes and renewable energy options
  • Ability to write recommendation reports for varying audiences (technical and non-technical)
  • Evidence of delivering innovation and engaging positively with continuous change and improvement
  • Cross-cultural communication skills and international team experience
  • Experience optimizing energy performance within existing budget constraints

Compensation and Location

Estimated compensation for this position: 85,000.00 – 115,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
