Job summary

BDO USA in the United States is seeking a GES Senior Manager to lead tax-related consulting on equity compensation, deferred compensation/409A, and ASC 718/740 matters for individuals and corporate returns. The role involves delivering client-ready calculations and memos, while guiding engagement teams and ensuring adherence to tax quality standards.

The position requires extensive experience in compensation & benefits, strong communication skills, and collaboration with broader tax and audit

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; focus in Accounting, preferred
• Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation, preferred
• Eight (8) or more years of experience in compensation & benefits, required
• CPA certification or JD, preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Access, Excel and Word, preferred
• Exposure to industry standard tax applications and research tools such as RIA, CCH, BNA and Lexis-Nexis, preferred

Responsibilities

• Utilizes prior experience executing client deliverables related to the Job Summary subject matter in the form of calculations and memos to clients
• Applies industry standards, along with firm policies and BDO Tax Quality Manual requirements, as they relate to: the Taxation of equity compensation, deferred compensation/409A, IRC section 162(m), 280G/Golden Parachute analyses, ASC 718 (f.k.a. FAS123R), ASC 740 (f.k.a. FAS109), payroll taxes, employee stock option plans, qualified plans and assistance with compensation related matters for individual and corporate income tax returns
• Researches and prepares compensation planning and/or benchmarking for executive compensation models
• Identifies situations when additional research is necessary and utilizes the appropriate source
• Communicates with clients, both verbally and formal business writing/tax opinions
• Exhibits client/executive presence and possesses strong communication skills
• Supervises workload of tax GES Managers and below on assigned engagements and reviews work product, as appropriate
• Ensures tax GES Managers and below are trained on all relevant tax software, including proprietary applications in Microsoft Excel and Access databases
• Delivers periodic performance feedback and completes performance evaluations for tax GES Managers and below
• Acts as mentor to tax GES Managers and below, as appropriate
• Works directly with general tax and audit engagement teams to provide compensation & benefits assistance to firm clients

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $139,700 - $240,000

NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $139,700 - $240,000

Washington DC Range: $139,700 - $240,000
