Job summary

IDEA (Islamic Development & Empowerment in America) is seeking an International Emergency Response Lead to drive design, coordination, and execution of large-scale humanitarian responses across regions. This role blends operational leadership with strategic partnership management and requires frequent international travel.

The ideal candidate has deep field experience, strong donor engagement capabilities, and the ability to operate under high pressure in evolving contexts.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
• 5–7+ years in international humanitarian response with field experience.
• Willingness to travel internationally on short notice.
• Experience managing large-scale, complex emergency programs.
• Proven track record with institutional donors (USAID/BHA, State Dept, UN, ECHO).
• Experience in insecure or resource-constrained environments.
• Fluency in English; additional languages (Arabic, French, Spanish) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, coordination, and execution of large-scale international emergency responses.
• Oversee rapid needs assessments, strategy development, and program implementation.
• Ensure timely, context-appropriate responses aligned with humanitarian standards.
• Coordinate deployments and support country teams and partners in scaling operations.
• Manage relationships with donors, UN agencies, and government partners.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements and organizational policies.
