Job summary

The Emergency Health Coordinator, Global Surge at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) will provide leadership and direction to strengthen a timely, high-quality emergency health response. The role includes coordinating primary health, reproductive health and nutrition components and ensuring adherence to national and international guidelines, with results-based monitoring and evaluation.

Deployments may be field-based or roving and occur within 72 hours of notification.

Qualifications

• Master’s or post-graduate degree in Public Health or equivalent.
• 3–5 years’ work experience in their field at a senior level.
• Effective leading and building programs and/or operations in fast-paced, multifaceted environments.
• Leadership and team management skills are important.
• Fluency in English; working knowledge of Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high-quality and timely integrated health assessments of humanitarian needs with prioritized recommendations.
• Design program responses and strategy in coordination with internal/external actors.
• Draft technical proposals and budgets for international donors; collaborate with grants/finance staff.
• Lead health program implementation, including staff recruitment and training, workplan development, procurement and inventory planning, and budget management.
• Prepare donor and management reports on grants and sector activities; ensure indicators are tracked.
• Represent and coordinate with other agencies, donors, and partners to promote standard humanitarian methodology.
