Job summary

PPG is seeking a Global Electrical Discipline Lead to oversee electrical engineering within our Global Engineering team. The role requires expertise in design standards, project management, and safety compliance across multiple regions including the USA and internationally.

The ideal candidate will have over 20 years of experience in electrical engineering, particularly within the chemical manufacturing sector, along with a strong understanding of global electrical codes. This position may require significant travel and collaboration with global suppliers.

Qualifications

  • 20+ years of experience in electrical engineering for sites and capital projects.
  • Deep understanding of electrical codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, OSHA, etc.).
  • Available for 25–50% travel, including international.

Job description

As the Global Electrical Discipline Lead, you will support the electrical engineering field within the Global Engineering team for capital projects and sites within PPG with a primary focus on the Industrial Segment. Your role will involve leading electrical design standards, project oversight, and safety compliance across PPG’s global footprint in the USA, Mexico, Europe, and Asia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own electrical subject area standards and processes for design and requirements.
  • Support electrical scope development, cost estimating, specifications, construction packages, quality assurance, and technical support for startup and commissioning of capital projects.
  • Serve as the electrical engineering subject‑matter expert for engineering and site teams, including electrical studies and equipment specification.
  • Lead engineering efforts for electrical man‑hour estimates and material takes‑offs.
  • Promote safe, balanced solutions within the design work process to increase project efficiency and predictability.
  • Support certifications and code compliance for electrical equipment purchases.
  • Audit manufacturing sites for electrical compliance, accurate documentation, maintenance programs, and provide recommendations.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies for electrical equipment.
Qualifications
  • BS in Electrical Engineering
  • 20+ years of experience supporting electrical engineering at sites and capital projects.
  • Experience in chemical manufacturing or capital project management preferred.
  • Deep understanding of global electrical codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, OSHA, IEC, FM Global, UL, NETA, ANSI, NEMA).
  • Travel 25–50% of time; some international travel required.
  • Collaboration experience with international suppliers and engineers.
