Job description

Neogen is seeking an experienced EHS Program Manager to lead process safety, combustible dust, serious injury & fatality (SIF), and emergency preparedness programs globally throughout the organization. The Global EHS Program Manager, Process Safety role will report to the Director, EHS Governance & Compliance Excellence. This position will serve as a subject matter expert for all aspects assigned, leading development of and implementation of associated global EHS standards for Neogen, ensuring compliance excellence across global operations.

As the Global EHS Program Manager, Process Safety some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Process Safety Management: Develop, launch and audit the Neogen Global Process Safety, Flammable Liquids Safety & Compliance, and Combustible Dust programs. Establish a global EHS framework, including self-audit and corporate audit programs, that achieve regulatory compliance while mitigating risk to the business.
  • Serious Injury & Fatality (SIF) Programs: Develop, launch and audit assigned Serious Injury & Fatality programs, including but not limited to Confined Space Entry, Live Electrical Energy, Energy Isolation/LOTO, Working At Heights and Machine Safeguarding. Establish a global EHS framework, including self-audit and corporate audit programs, that achieve regulatory compliance while mitigating risk to the business.
  • Emergency Preparedness & Business Continuity Planning: Standardize and stand up a global emergency preparedness and business continuity programs throughout all Neogen organizations. Align with key stakeholders throughout the organization (IT, Legal, Compliance) to integrate the full needs of the business to assure post event operational continuity. Establish self-audit and corporate audit programs that ensure ongoing regulatory compliance while mitigating risk to the business.
  • Innovative EHS Processes: Create and manage global EHS processes, tools, and training programs, resulting in a standardized approach to EHS across diverse manufacturing and non-manufacturing environments; Create and lead innovative EHS technology solutions.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a key liaison between internal and external stakeholders - including planning, procurement, engineering, facilities, and legal - to integrate EHS requirements into company processes, driving alignment and compliance.
  • Risk Management Enhancements: Implement robust risk management strategies for Neogen equipment and automation processes, with a focus on injury prevention and compliance excellence across global operations.
  • Process Optimization: Streamline EHS processes through the introduction of innovative tools and methodologies.
  • Best Practices: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by sharing best practices and lessons learned across all divisions of Neogen’s global sites, leading to enhanced EHS performance and operational consistency.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, both written and verbal, with emphasis on the ability to communicate complex technical topics in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, both internal and external to the company.
  • Strong bias for action and recognized as a proven subject matter expert in process safety, combustible dust, flammable liquids, & all SIF related aspects. (Environmental expertise is a big plus)
  • Expertise to achieve results by leading and engaging partners internal and external to the company.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • The candidate must possess a bachelor's degree in an EHS related field or a bachelor’s degree in a non-EHS related field with an EHS related certification (CSP, CIH, NEBOSH).
  • 10+ years of combined experience in Biotech, Pharmaceutical, Chemical or related industry
  • EHS Technical experience overseeing the development and implementation of Process Safety, Combustible Dust and SIF related programs within manufacturing operations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Environment, Health and Safety related field.
  • Experience with global application of process safety, combustible dust emergency preparedness and SIF related programs.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification, with practical application of program management methodology including Lean Six Sigma / Kaizen.
  • Proficient in Process Safety Management risk assessment methodologies (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA, PHA, FMEA)
  • Experience with performance metrics, process improvements, and Lean techniques.
  • Environmental Compliance Expertise (air permitting, hazardous waste, wastewater, EPCRA)
