Job summary

Michigan State University is seeking an Assistant Director for Global Support Services within the Eli Broad College of Business. This role leads advising practices for international and education abroad students, coordinates resources, and supervises a small team within Undergraduate Academic Services (UAS).

The position supports on-site, hybrid work arrangements and may involve evening/weekend events. MSU emphasizes inclusive student services and ongoing program improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience supporting undergraduate students through academic advising or similar services.
• Direct experience supporting international students, incoming exchange students, or education abroad participants.
• Experience leading or coordinating a student services/advising operations portfolio and improving processes or resources.
• Experience supervising professional staff with coaching and performance management.
• Ability to interpret and apply academic policies and handle complex student situations.
• Experience coordinating programs involving multiple stakeholders.
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for advising practices, resources, and staff training for global student support.
• Advise prospective, business-preference, and admitted Broad students on degree planning, education abroad, and requirements.
• Supervise 2–3 professional academic advisors and guide training for broader UAS team.
• Maintain academic advising caseload and support international coursework, education abroad, and degree planning.
• Contribute to UAS initiatives supporting student success, events, and outreach.
• Teach pre-departure education sessions and a potential one-credit seminar.
• Represent UAS on College and University committees and collaborate with cross-unit partners.
