Job summary

Partnership on AI is seeking an Editorial Director, Global Communications to lead the organization’s global communications function and maximize the reach, influence, and adoption of PAI's research, frameworks, recommendations, guidance, and tools. Based in Brussels or London, this role will oversee an integrated strategy across editorial planning, audience engagement, and thought leadership.

The ideal candidate brings exceptional editorial judgment, 10+ years in editorial leadership or policy

Qualifications

• 10+ years of editorial leadership or policy communications experience, incl. 5+ years leading teams.
• Exceptional editorial judgment translating complex research or policy into compelling narratives.
• Proven success developing dissemination strategies that raise visibility of research and thought leadership.
• Experience engaging global stakeholders including policymakers, regulators, standards bodies, and media.
• Strong background in earned media, executive communications, and external narrative development.
• Familiarity with international policy, governance, or regulatory environments; AI/tech policy preferred.
• Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive impact using audience insights and metrics.

Responsibilities

• Provide editorial oversight for PAI frameworks, recommendations, and technical outputs.
• Ensure publications are accessible and actionable for standards bodies, auditors, policymakers.
• Collaborate with Programs, Research, Policy, and Partnership teams on dissemination strategies.
• Develop executive briefs, speeches, talking points, press materials, and external assets.
• Lead development and execution of international communications strategy.
• Establish editorial standards, narratives, and audience-centered approaches.
• Oversee external PR agencies and strategic campaigns.
• Monitor media trends and identify opportunities for expert commentary.
