Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Military Planner to direct and plan DoD planning and asset management projects worldwide. Requires leading teams, coordinating stakeholders, and developing installation and capital investment plans.

Occasional overseas travel and active participation in HDR’s employee-owned culture are essential. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or related field, 10+ years in environmental consulting, strong leadership, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or closely related field.
• Minimum of 10 years experience in environmental consulting with marketing, land development project management, staff management and client satisfaction; advanced degree may offset years of experience.
• Leadership skills and ability to manage in a team environment.
• Highly motivated self-starter.
• Business development skills and familiarity with local clients and markets.
• Excellent communication skills.
• May require travel.
• Active participation in employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary team to complete DoD planning studies and related documentation in accordance with DoD and Service-specific planning criteria and guidance.
• Conduct facility and infrastructure requirements analyses and capacity assessments.
• Project Planning – develop successful project execution plans including storyboarding process and product expectations.
• Facilitate Installation Visioning, Planning, and Programming Charrettes.
• Collaborates in the exchange of information between stakeholders through written, graphic (CAD/GIS/SketchUp/Hand Sketches), and verbal communication.
• Builds consensus and supports planning proposals, coordinating stakeholders with opposing views to manage projects.
• Develop complete Installation, Area, and Component plans.
• Development Plans IAW applicable planning criteria.
• Development of Capital Investment Strategy IAW DoD Service and customer criteria.
• Preparation of complete DD Forms 1391.
• Preparation of economic analyses.
