Job summary

Merck & Co. in Rahway, NJ, USA is hiring an Executive Director, Global Public Policy, Vaccines & Infectious Disease. The role leads global policy strategy and advocacy for the Vaccines & Infectious Disease franchises, reporting to the AVP of Global Vaccines & Infectious Disease Policy.

The position is US-based with options to be located in Washington, DC; Upper Gwynedd, PA; or Rahway, NJ. You will steer cross-functional teams and coordinate enterprise-wide policy initiatives.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Public Policy, Public Health, Public Administration, Political Science, International Relations, or related field (e.g., MPP, MPH/MSPH, MPA, PhD, JD).

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of the Global Vaccine and Infectious Disease Policy strategy across Strategic Access, Policy and Communications, and R&D.
• Provide strategic leadership and oversight for policy engagement across internal stakeholders to ensure a coordinated, high‑impact advocacy approach.
• Lead a cross‑franchise, geographically broad team, fostering organizational effectiveness and high‑performance culture.
• Engage with regional and country policy teams to support regional/local policy objectives in priority vaccine areas.
• Manage policy cross‑functional efforts and external forums with trade associations, governments, and civil society.
• Serve as policy advisor to senior leadership on evolving policy, geopolitical, and public health developments.
• Build relationships with governmental, multilateral, NGO, and patient advocacy stakeholders to advance policy objectives.
