Job summary

UN Secretariat in New York seeks a Data Analyst to build databases, data collection systems, and analytics capabilities across RC systems. You will identify trends in structured and unstructured data, develop reporting dashboards, and deliver data products to inform management decisions.

The role requires 5+ years in data analysis/data science, strong SQL/Python/R skills, and English language proficiency with French as a plus.

Qualifications

• Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in a quantitative field such as computer science, data science, statistics, or information management.
• Bachelor's degree with two additional years of relevant experience may be accepted.
• Minimum of five years of progressive experience in Data Analysis, Data Engineering, or Data Science.
• Experience with SQL, Python, R, and data visualization tools is desirable.
• Languages: English (required); French (desired).

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, and analytics strategies to optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
• Identify, analyze, and interpret trends and patterns using statistical methods on structured and unstructured data.
• Develop and implement analysis, reporting, and quality control capabilities, identifying appropriate data sources and process improvement opportunities.
• Create reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to convey insights to management.
• Lead the production of data products such as reports and newsletters.
• Establish communication and cooperation with organizational units to manage data needs.
• Collaborate with data engineers and scientists to enhance data flows and quality.
• Stay abreast of data analytics trends, technologies, and tools.
• Conduct training for staff on data analytics and UN INFO modules.
• Support project execution through data analysis and collaboration.
