Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Data Center Physical Security Systems Engineer to define and deliver the physical security technology architecture that protects the infrastructure powering advanced AI systems. You will partner with infrastructure teams to design scalable, resilient security architectures across diverse data center environments.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in physical security systems architecture or related fields.
• Experience with hyperscale data centers or critical infrastructure environments.
• Ability to move from architecture to implementation: prototyping, integration, validation, and field issue resolution.
• Experience partnering with cross-functional teams including engineering, construction, networking, cybersecurity, and legal.

Responsibilities

• Define and design the physical security technology architecture strategy for AI data center environments, ensuring scalable and resilient designs.
• Define enterprise standards and patterns for physical security capabilities (access control, video surveillance, intrusion, identity-based access).
• Lead architecture governance of physical security systems and supporting platforms.
• Define security standards across diverse deployment models and lifecycle management of security technologies.
• Collaborate with Security Operations, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Compliance, Legal, Procurement, and external providers to ensure integrated, effective security systems.
• Provide technical leadership and drive architecture reviews, evaluations, and adoption of best practices across global deployments.
