Job summary

General Motors is seeking a DK68 Global Block Machining Lead Engineer to drive machining process development, standardization, and continuous improvement from concept to plant handover and sustainment across multiple sites.

You will lead cross-functional teams, ensure safety and quality targets, and manage timing and costs while collaborating with Product Engineering, Plant Engineering, Quality and suppliers in a global matrix environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering.
• 7+ years in manufacturing or manufacturing engineering in high-volume automotive or powertrain.
• Experience as technical lead or SME for cylinder block/head/crankshaft or similar high-precision machining.
• Knowledge of block machining processes, equipment OEMs, tooling, fixturing, gaging, automation.
• Experience with ECR/ECN processes and cross-functional change management in a large OEM.
• Experience with PFMEAs, Control Plans, PPAPs and process capability (Cpk, Ppk).
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills in a global matrix.
• Knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing System principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead the global DK68 cylinder block machining scope from design through handover and sustainment.
• Establish and maintain global process standards, flows, routings and equipment lists.
• Harmonize tooling, parameters, fixturing, gaging, cycle times and automation across sites.
• Lead safety reviews, PFMEA/Control Plan development, capability studies and validations.
• Resolve machining-related issues using structured problem-solving in a large OEM setting.
• Direct OEMs and suppliers through design, build, run-off and launch activities.
• Manage timing, risks, spending, POs, capital assets and knowledge transfer across sites.
• Provide program updates to leadership and mentor machining engineers.
