Job summary

General Motors (GM) is seeking a DK68 Global Block Machining Lead Engineer to drive global process standards for cylinder block machining on the DK68 diesel engine program. You will lead cross-site harmonization of tooling, parameters, fixturing, and automation while ensuring safety, quality, cost, and timing targets are met.

Collaboration across Product Engineering, Plant Engineering, Quality, and suppliers is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of manufacturing or manufacturing engineering in high-volume automotive or powertrain.
• Technical lead or SME for cylinder block or other high-precision machining processes.
• Experience with PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAPs, and process capability analysis (Cpk, Ppk).
• Cross-functional change management in a large OEM environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead global cylinder block machining scope from concept to sustainment across sites.
• Establish global process standards, routings, and equipment requirements.
• Drive cross-site tooling, fixturing, and automation harmonization.
• Lead safety reviews, PFMEA and Control Plan development, and capability studies.
• Resolve machining-related issues via structured problem solving and ECR/ECN processes.
• Collaborate with OEMs and suppliers through design, build, run-off, and launch.
• Provide program updates to leadership and mentor engineers globally.
