Job summary

Boston Consulting Group is seeking a Data Protection Engineer within the Federal Organization in Washington, DC area. You will operate & maintain Data Protection architecture across GCC High platforms (AWS, Azure, M365) in alignment with NIST 800-171, DFARS 7012, and CMMC Level 2.

You will lead data protection strategy, collaborate with engineering, risk, and security teams, and drive process improvements for secure SaaS environments while leveraging AI-based security tooling.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of experience in Information Security and Data Protection.
• Experience with data handling within AI tooling and management.
• Familiar with industry standards & frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST 800-171, CMMC).
• Encryption and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) experience using sensitivity labeling.

Responsibilities

• Enhance and maintain the Data Classification and labeling strategy across platforms.
• Translate compliance obligations into operational data schemas.
• Lead process improvements with Engineering and IT Service teams.
• Collaborate with Risk and Security to define labeling strategy.
• Refine Data Protection processes to align with security needs.
• Present data analysis and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Lead data-driven egress monitoring and control evolutions.
• Architect new data controls within emerging AI architecture.
• Evolve security tools and reporting with embedded AI security tools.
• Coordinate with vendor technical teams to enable progress.
