The role focuses on contract review and drafting, compliance, and governance, with opportunities to collaborate across functions and with outside counsel. Candidates should have a JD from an accredited US law school, be eligible for New Jersey admission, and possess strong negotiation and drafting skills as well as clear communication.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited U.S. law school.
• Admission to the New Jersey Bar or eligibility to be admitted as NJ in-house counsel.
• 2-5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in corporate law, commercial contracts, or related fields.
• Strong negotiation and drafting skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Maritime industry experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of contracts including NDAs, customer service agreements, vendor contracts, and real estate leases.
• Collaborate with outside counsel on legal matters as needed.
• Support the business divisions in day-to-day commercial transactions and operational needs.
• Assist with global and regional governance, risk assessment, and compliance programs, ensuring adherence to applicable laws and company policies.
• Conduct compliance training sessions for employees across different departments.
• Provide legal guidance on industry-specific issues, including maritime regulations (preferred but not required).
• Maintain organized records of legal documents and ensure timely updates to contract templates and policies.
• Stay informed about changes in relevant laws and regulations impacting the company’s operations.
